War and war, dream and reality, images and sounds of presence and absence condensed into a dream sequence that is as real as it is true, and as true as it is real. Drumbeats on distant hills, but where are the soldiers? Who is Little Hand, what does he write, who writes, who washes, and how long can all this be washed away?
(The film was inspired by the collection entitled “The Beliefs of Four Palóc Villages” from 1985, which is part of the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum’s collection.)
