After digitalisation, the human figures visible in the photo were (re)animated using various techniques based on the principles of collage and montage \u2013 cutting, cropping, redrawing, and overdrawing \u2013 and then combined using various video synthesizers and &#8222;image to video&#8221; algorithms. In his book Camera Lucida, Roland Barthes called the photograph a living image of a dead thing.
